For many people faced with making the decision to terminate a pregnancy the cost of the procedure is also of concern, let alone making the decision itself.

The cost of a surgical termination is made up of different components. For example the consultation, ultrasound, pathology fees, the procedure itself and sedation. A multi-disciplinary team is involved to provide the services efficiently without hospital admission.

At GCA we endeavour to make services more accessible to patients.  For a surgical termination we will bill some of the costs directly to Medicare. These item numbers are associated with your procedure and will be paid directly to us. However please note Medicare cardholders will still be charged an out of pocket private fee, which is non-rebateable.

If you do not have a Medicare card the out of pocket expense will be higher, however, if you have a private insurer they may cover some of your costs.  Enquiry should be made directly with your insurer.

We take payment on the day of your appointment.

If you would like to discuss the cost of abortion or have any questions please call us on 02 9585 9599

Please note – GCA has ceased provision of medical abortion to allow for patients to have the surgical abortion procedures by our doctors specifically trained in the procedure. Medical abortion is more readily available within the community often with general practitioners, family planning or women’s health clinics.
